The Gregynog Experiment: R.A. Maynard – Print and Music 1922-31

Sunday 20 June to Sunday 1 August. Dates to be confirmed.

2020 marked the centenary of the ‘Gregynog Project’ – the creation by Gwendoline and Margaret Davies, celebrated for their collection of French Impressionist painting, of a centre for the arts and crafts in Wales. Among the most celebrated outcomes was the Gregynog Press. Its first Controller, Robert Ashwin Maynard, established the style of the work for which it became famous. This exhibition of Maynard’s typography and wood engraving includes his dramatic posters for musical events sponsored by the sisters in the 1920s.
